As the year nears it’s conclusion, the CEO of the Asian Hockey Federation, Mr Tayyab Ikram, embarked on a cordial visit to Bahrain to discuss the possibility of the nation to join the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as a member. Mr Ikram is also the Head of International Relations for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and advocated the interests of both the continental and international federations, for Bahrain to attain membership status.
Official meetings to initiate the entry of Bahrain into the AHF & the FIH took place with the General Secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, H.E Mr Abdul Rahman Askar and the Head of the Bahrain hockey Association, Mr Jude D’Souza.
Mr Ikram joined members of the Bahrain Hockey Association to go on an official inspection tour around the Kingdom’s various hockey facilities. An exhibition game among the local community players was also arranged in honor of Mr Ikram’s visit. On behalf of the FIH and the AHF, Mr Ikram expressed recognition towards the great efforts done by the Bahrain Hockey Association towards developing the sport further within the country and in the region.
The Bahrain Hockey Association was also hosted Mr. Al Janoubi, a Senior official of the Saudi Olympic Committee and Mr. Ali Zaman, the Head of Saudi Arabia Field Hockey Association and Saudi Hockey Team, to discuss official cooperation between the two hockey associations and clubs of Bahrain.
